The eTIMS Desktop Application is a software solution developed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) that enables taxpayers to generate authority-compliant electronic invoices.

To install the application, your computer must meet the following minimum system requirements:

This article provides a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to successfully install the eTIMS Desktop App on your computer.

  1. Visit the eTIMS Online Taxpayer Portal and click on the “SignUp” button to begin the registration process.

  2. Click on the red square labeled “PIN” to proceed.

  3. Enter your KRA PIN and click “Verify”

  4. The page will be automatically populated with the PIN’s details, as registered in the associated iTax profile.

  5. Create a strong password that is at least 12 characters long and includes a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (for example, Nairobi@2026 meets these requirements—ensure you create your own secure password).

  6. Click “Send OTP” to generate and send a verification code to the mobile number registered under the PIN’s associated iTax profile.

  7. Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number. Please note that the code is valid for 15 minutes, after which it will expire.

  8. Tick the checkbox to confirm your agreement with the KRA data privacy statement and policy, then click the “Sign Up” button to complete the registration process.

  9. Upon successful registration, the system will redirect you to the login page. Enter your KRA PIN in the User ID field and the password you created earlier to proceed to the next step.

  11. Click the eTIMS button on the modal that appears.

  12. You will be redirected to a page displaying your PIN details as they appear on your iTax profile.

  13. Scroll down and enter the KRA PIN of any director listed under the Directors section in iTax, then click Verify to send an OTP to the director’s phone number registered in iTax.

  14. Enter the OTP received in the input field located next to the Send OTP button.

  15. In the Service Information section, select eTIMS Client from the eTIMS Type dropdown menu.
    Enter your laptop details, including the serial number and model number, and in the eTIMS Client Software dropdown, choose eTIMS Client [Windows].

  16. Tick all three checkboxes, then click Send.

  17. You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number containing your initial login credentials (User ID and password). Please ensure that you complete the process within the same day.

  19. Scroll down and on the left sidebar, click the “Install eTIMS” link

  1. Click on “eTIMS Paypoint (Windows) - Tooltip text“ link on the right-hand side of the page. It should download an executable file named eTIMS-Paypoint-Win-1.0.38.exe

  1. Navigate to your downloads folder and double click the newly downloaded eTIMS-Paypoint-Win-1.0.38 executable file

  1. Complete the initialization page by entering the KRA PIN, Branch ID, and Serial Number. Then select “General Use” from the Business Type dropdown menu.

  2. Click on the initialize button on the top right

  3. If successful, you’ll see the page below. Click on the Management Module

  4. Use the credentials sent to your registered mobile number in step 17, then click the Login button.

  1. In the next step, click the User button located at the top left of the screen.

  2. Enter the User ID, Password, User Name, and select Admin as the Role. In the Authorization section, tick all available checkboxes.

  3. Click the Save button at the top right to save the new user, then confirm the action in the modal that appears to complete the process.

  4. A confirmation modal will appear indicating that the user has been saved successfully. Click OK to proceed.

  5. You will see the newly created user in the lower section of User Management. Click the back button on the top right

  3. Use the credentials created in step 32 to log in to the app. If the login is unsuccessful, restart the process from step 30 using the initial login details sent from KRACare. Note that the process must be completed on the same day you receive the credentials.
